The All-New Volvo XC90 was launched at the Artipelag in the outskirts of Stockholm - dramatic nature and Swedish design joined together as one. The perfect place to reveal the most innovative and luxurious Volvo car to date.
We had the opportunity to work closely with A+A Communication in the staging of the event and the logistics around the visuals that resulted in a 45 min live presentation - a gargantuan task. 16 4K projectors was utilised to map 300 individual films on a 19 x 6 x 9 m stage - a stage with many hard angles, and even moving surfaces.
The show used many tricks and optical illusions to take the audience on a visual journey. The car on the stage was one of the first instances of 3d-mapping on a moving object - a must, in order to have it give the illusion of changing materials and even becoming transparent. Digital set extension was another trick that came to good use on several occasions during the show.
All in all a fitting launch for a new generation of Volvo cars.
