After unveiling two applauded concept cars, Concept Coupe and the Concept XC Coupe, we proudly present the final car in the series. The Concept Estate is a tribute to creativity and an embodiment of Scandinavian luxury.
Seeing the beloved Fårö without sunglasses was a thought that inspired us to make this movie. A holiday paradise overrun with tourists in the summer becomes a barren island with 100 residents and a grocery store with irregular opening hours during winter. We wanted to be a part of the landscape without the distractions of summer. We got this and more when our shoot coincided with a snowstorm. Some of the roads we traveled on wasn’t even shovelled. We rolled up our sleeves and got to work.
When we made the films about Concept Coupe and Coupe Concept XC, we created the entire films using 3D. The presentation of the Concept Estate, the third car in Volvo's concept car trilogy, is a first taste of their next production car. With this in mind, we wanted to place the 3D animated car in real environments to highlight a more realistic feeling. Fårö’s barren winter landscape gave the images sharp textures and detailed shapes, a sense of authenticity that would be very time consuming and advanced to recreate in 3D.
The film's music is made by Be the Bear. The song is called Mermaid and it's the first single from their upcoming debut album.
